For Vyhlídka Kindergarten in Ústí nad Labem, we created a redesign concept for their website to improve both the user experience and the overall visual style and accessibility of the site.
Client
Vyhlídka Kindergarten, located on the eastern side of Ústí nad Labem, has a long-standing tradition. The only thing the kindergarten was missing was a website that would not only be clear and easy to navigate for parents, but would also comply with the law on the accessibility of public institution websites.
Design
Before creating the actual page prototypes, we collected the kindergarten’s requirements for the new website and analyzed their existing site. Based on these findings, we defined the information architecture, according to which we then designed the four most important pages: the homepage, the Žabičky (Froggies) class page, the calendar, and news updates. In designing these pages, we proceeded in an agile manner—from low‑fidelity to high‑fidelity prototypes—using Figma.
In the design, we assigned icons and colors to each of the four classes (for example, Berušky—Ladybirds—are red, Žabičky—Froggies—are green, etc.). This labeling is also used for tags in the news and calendar events. Thanks to this functionality, parents can easily see which event or update relates to which class.
The kindergarten’s principal was involved in the design process to help define the requirements for the new website and to provide feedback on our proposals. Everything was carefully discussed with the client.
Throughout the design, we placed particular emphasis on UX and accessibility, especially due to the law that governs the accessibility of websites of public institutions.
Development
Since the development of the Vyhlídka Kindergarten website is being carried out by someone else as part of a thesis project, we handed over our design in a form that can be used directly in the development of the new web presentation.
